Road Haulage Association Profiles Abbey

As part of #nationallorryweek which starts 16th November, The Road Haulage Association asked Abbey to contribute with a short film highlighting the careers available in logistics.

The film features an interview with Liam Murray, one of Abbey’s current apprentices and highlights some of the great opportunities available for young people, not only within Abbey but throughout the industry with structured earn while you learn schemes from lots of companies in the sector.

Examples like this are a great reminder that the industry needs to connect with talented and skilled young people to continue to see the industry thrive. Liam joined Abbey from school having taken part in the Think Logistics programme and is yet another great example of the impact of Think Logistics and it’s real-world effectiveness in introducing young people to the logistics sector.

Think Logistics now has more than 40 logistics companies providing support through internships, work experience, workshops in schools and colleges. Further support for this initiative is provided by industry trade bodies such as Logistics UK, The CILT and the Road Transport Association.

Also featured is Abbey’s Liquids Business Unit Director David Patten about his route into logistics, and Peter Cunningham Transport & Operations Manager, who currently manages our bulk liquid food operation in Liverpool.

The Road Haulage Association National Lorry Week celebrates the vital and often-overlooked role of the road transport industry and we were delighted to take part and show our support for this brilliant initiative. more details here: https://lnkd.in/dFTjPKZ
