FORS accreditations for Abbey’s powder division

More good news from our powders division, our team in Dunbar, Scotland has been awarded FORS Silver accreditation, and our general powders depot in Middlewich is now FORS  Bronze accredited. These accreditations are the highest industry standards that recognise the importance of the quality of our operations in terms of safety, efficiency and environmental protection.

The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS)  is a voluntary accreditation for fleet operators, which aims to raise the level of quality within fleet operations, and demonstrate which operators are achieving the highest standards.

Why is FORS Accreditation Important?

There are several advantages to earning a FORS accreditation. Most importantly, it places safety, efficiency and environmental compliance as the cornerstones of an operation and ensures the company operates with these crucial elements top of mind in everything they do.

FORS also provides ongoing support and training to ensure our planners, drivers and other operations team members have access to the latest training and development material and the ability to access industry-leading coaching so they maintain their skills and stay up to date with the latest developments.

Achieving a FORS accreditation is not easy and Abbey Logistics needed to demonstrate industry-leading processes, procedures and compliance. FORS complete very strict and meticulous audits of our, vehicles, people, safety and our environmental performance together with management processes we have in place before they are satisfied our operations are deserving of this accreditation.

Kenny McCallum, Abbey Logistics’ Group SHEQ Manager said:

“Achieving FORS accreditation goes much further than just having a safe, compliant and environmentally efficient fleet, which is a pre-requisite for any responsible transport company.

“FORS accreditation means the work we are doing at Abbey Logistics to support our customers and teams shows our dedication in managing and minimising work-related risk and our commitment to exceeding the industry standards. FORS standards also mean our operations demonstrate best practice and we consistently meet the demands of a recognised quality practice.

“We are committed to the highest standards of on the road safety, legal and environmental compliance, and customer care and we are delighted to achieve recognition for our work”.
