Regional Driver Trainer – £35k to £38k

Job description

We are seeking to recruit a Regional Driver Trainer to join the Abbey Logistics Driver Training Team and reporting to the Driver Training Manager.

The individual will be a role model for safe working and uncompromising standards with an open and inquisitive approach. They will be co-ordinating and providing professional and cost-effective training across the business. Taking responsibility for driver behaviour improvement and development, ensuring new starters are inducted and trained correctly.

Primary Purpose of Role

  • Driving assessments for recruitment and support with onboarding/induction training.
  • To conduct in cab training for newly qualified drivers
  • Annual driving assessments as appropriate.
  • Ensure all training paperwork is completed in full and inline with driver training standards.
  • Refresher training as and when required, to include driver hours, working time directive, use of tachographs, reverse training, defensive driving and fuel efficiency techniques.
  • Upskill core driving colleagues.
  • Delivering all driver training requirements and meeting our commitment to Driver CPC, under the JAUPT-approved training scheme involving Classroom, Remote and In Cab training
  • Attend CPD training as required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects
  • Support the Transport operations with investigations and special projects as necessary
  • National role to cover East of England and North West of England (company vehicle and fuel card provided)
  • Weekend coverage (2 Saturdays per month for Driver CPC training)
  • Basic weekly working 45 hours (30 minute lunch). Flexible with start and finish times and extra hours depending on operational requirements

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Clean Driving HGV Class (C + E) License – Minimum 5 years’ experience
  • Liquid / Powder Tank operation (preferred)
  •  RITITB Assessor Qualification
  • Experience of delivering Driver CPC courses
  • Full understanding of Drivers Hours Regulations EC561/2006
  • Full understanding of the Working Time Regulations 2002/15/EC
  • FORS Bronze & Silver Experience (preferred)
  • Manual Handling Qualified Trainer
  • Working at Height Qualified Trainer
  • Clean Accident/Incident Record
  • IT Literate, MS Office – Excel / Word proficient
  • Excellent listening and Coaching Skills
  • Excellent Presentation Skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations – IOSH Qualification
